So much for free speech then - it appears that you may not take Mohammed in vain. No matter where you live and no matter the laws of your land; if you are deemed to be taking the michael out of Muslims you had better watch out.

Well it seems to me that a religion that is insufficiently robust to take a joke or indeed some criticism is perhaps not worth the ardour of its followers.

I live in a country where free speech is a central tenet - and being offended is not the same as being racially attacked. Being muslim is not a racial statement. Criticising Islam is therefore not racism.

When Monty Pythons "Life of Brian" came out, many Christians were offended and some staged protests outside cinemas - I seem to recall that some councils did indeed bow to pressure to ban the film. It was appalling then, as now that the believers in some imaginary-friend can make themselves the arbiters of taste and morality on the basis of, what exactly?

Give me some proof that your gods and idols exist and I will give you the right to argue on their behalf. Until you have some evidence that your gods exist, I do not think that you can argue that anything can offend them, you can only argue that you have been offended.
Taking offense does not justify violent protest. I am offended by sexism, inequality and religious bigotry several times a day - I do not burn flags or threaten violence on that basis.
